BERNARDA FINK gives international master classes

The internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Bernarda Fink will be leading several masterclasses at major European festivals and music institutions over the coming months. The renowned lieder singer has been deeply committed to nurturing young talent for many years and regularly gives courses for young singers and lieder duos. At the intersection of poetry and music, the art song genre is one of the richest and most intimate, yet also one of the most demanding, requiring a very special chemistry between singers and pianists.

In the spring, Fink will first be a guest at the Leeds Song Festival in Leeds, UK. There, on 14 April 2026, she will lead a festival masterclass for young artists, offering insights into the interpretation of the lieder repertoire and working with participants on musical expression and stylistic interpretation.

Bernarda Fink will also play a central role in the training programme at the Internationaal Lied Festival Zeist in the Netherlands. Together with bass-baritone Robert Holl, she will teach a masterclass for professional lied duos. The course focuses on the close collaboration between singers and pianists – a central element of lied interpretation, in which poetry, music and dramatic structure interact.

Further masterclasses will follow in the summer at two historic European music centres. In July 2026, Fink will lead a multi-day course for young singers at the Fondation Royaumont near Asnières-sur-Oise, as part of the institution’s international academy programmes.

In addition, another masterclass is planned as part of the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, where Fink will also work with young singers on the lieder and vocal repertoire. This programme aims to offer comprehensive training, support young musicians from all over the world and promote classical music within the cultural and social fabric of the region.

And last but not least, Bernarda Fink will be giving a masterclass together with her brother Marcos Fink in her adopted home of Carinthia, at the Bildungshaus Tainach, an institution with which she has been associated for many years.

Through these projects, the Austrian Kammersängerin continues her long-standing commitment to training the next generation of lieder interpreters. Alongside her international concert career, passing on her experience in masterclasses and academies is one of the key focuses of her artistic work.
